The 32nd International Railway Safety Council (IRSC) will be held in Seville at Sevilla International Convention Center from 16th to 21st October, an international forum for an in-depth exchange of expertises among the different countries.

It is possible to attend the Congress individually or with a partner.

In case you are interested in attending with your partner, a very Special Early Bird fee has been released and will only be able for registrations before 30th June.

Early Bird registration fee gives you the possibility of choosing the hotel among the 2 available options included in the Congress registration package:

  • Barceló Renacimiento 5* star hotel along Guadalquivir River where the Convention Center is located.
  • NH Plaza de Armas is an amazing 4* star hotel in the heart of the city and walking distance to the monumental city center.

Please consider that:

  • Hotel choice will be always subjected to current availability at the moment of your registration.
  • Hotel allocation will be assigned strictly in accordance with order of registration and corresponding payment. First come first served method.
  • Hotel preference choice will only be available for registration before 30th June.

During the Congress, a Welcome cocktail for a first initial contact among the attendees will take place on the 16th October, followed by 3 conference days and a fifth and sixth day where 4 workshops will be carried out along with 2 technical visits.

All the meals are included during the 3 conference days. In case of having chosen 6 Days Congress Package including workshops and technical visits, the lunch on the 20th October will be also provided.

Welcome cocktail will take place at Hotel Barceló gardens and special dinners will take place outside the hotel:

All conference sessions will take maximum 30 minutes each and will be carried during 17th, 18th and 19th October 2022 from 9 am to 5 pm.

Once registered, you will have the possibility of submitting your abstract in order to be evaluated by the Committee. Selected abstracts will be chosen for an oral presentation during the Congress sessions in Seville.

The main topics for the IRSC 2022 Congress will be:

  • Safety Culture and Safety Performance. (How Safety Culture and Leadership help to improve Performance: real experiences, strengths, weaknesses, difficulties, etc. Just Culture & Safety Notification Systems).
  • The Future is present - Safety Data & Systems Digitalisation. (Technologies in relation with operations and safety that open the path to online monitoring, analytics, and big data).
  • “Better Together”. (Inter and cross organizational cooperation experiences to improve global safety management, rail safety as a unique and global value, regulatory relationships).

Deadline for Abstract submission will be 17th July 2022*.

* Please consider that the acceptance of abstracts is subjected to Congress registration. Please read Abstract guidelines carefully.

All selected abstracts will be published and available on the Congress website until 20th October 2023 once the Congress is over.

Participants will also have the possibility of submitting their informative posters which will be viewed on the Congress website and will also be displayed on a large format screen located in a prominent place inside during the Congress at the Convention center.

Deadline for E-Poster submission will be 28th August 2022*.

* Please consider that the acceptance of E-Poster is subjected to Congress registration. Please read E-poster guidelines carefully.

A specific official template will be provided by Congress Secretariat for Abstracts and E-Posters. Please note that any document format different from the official template will not be accepted.

The 4 workshops will be carried out on the 20th October from 9am to 6pm and will cover the following topics:

  • Safety Leadership.
  • Investigating Safety Management Systems.
  • Human and Organisational Factors/Just Culture.
  • Safety Critical Components.

Leading prominent personalities from the sector will be chairmen and moderators for the workshops.

Technical visits will be held at 20th and 21st October 2022. Thursday 20th full day and Friday 21st half day.

Attendees’ Partner program includes 5-night accommodation along with 4 days with sightseeing and cultural visits as well as all the dinners during the Congress. Please check partner program for further information.

Payment modalities

Payment of registration fees, must be made in EURO through one of the following options:

Credit Card: Mastercard, Visa

Bank Transfer to the conference organizers’ bank account. The option to select bank transfer as your preferred payment method will only be available until 15th August 2022.

Payments need to be made without charges to the beneficiary. Clearly state the registration number, payment order number and participant’s full name when processing the transaction. If these are not stated, IRSC Secretariat will return the money and you will need to transfer the amount again.

IMPORTANT: Please note that Registration will be valid only after confirmation by IRSC Secretariat.

Cancellation policy

  • Written cancellation received before 15th August 2022 will have a 40% charge of the total fee.
  • Written cancellation received after 15th August 2022 will have a 70% charge of the total fee.
  • Written cancellation received after 1st October 2022 will have a 100% charge of the total fee.

The terms of cancellation are applicable in all circumstances, including if a visa is officially refused to the participant and/or partner. We strongly advise all participants to start their visa application as early as possible in order to avoid disappointments.

The notification must include all relevant information regarding the bank account to which a possible refund, according to the above-mentioned policy, may be remitted. The cancellation will not be effective until a written acknowledgement from IRSC Secretariat is received.

No refunds will be granted for unattended events or early termination of attendance, in case of cancellation of speakers, problems or disruptions which are beyond the control of the conference organizers.

By completing the registration form, the participant accepts the general terms and conditions as well as the cancellation policy and agrees that their data may be used, processed, and published (e.g., within the list of participants) for organizational purposes of the event. The participant accepts that IRSC may contact registrants by email for organizational matters (e.g., the registration confirmation and invoice) and information related to the event.

The participant acknowledges that they have no right to lodge damage claims against the organizers should the meeting be altered or cancelled due to unexpected, political or economic events or generally by force, or should the non-appearance of speakers or other causes require program changes. The same statement as noted above applies for last-minute cancellations of speakers or other causes that necessitate program changes. With registration, the participant accepts this proviso.

The Organizer does not assume liability for individual medical, travel or personal insurance and participants are strongly advised to make their own arrangements in respect to health and travel insurance.

During the congress, attendees, exhibitors, guests, and others may be photographed by the congress organization company or its partners. Reproductions of these photographs may be displayed in future publications or materials connected with the congress. If you do not want for your image to be displayed, please contact the Secretariat in writing no later than 7 days after the congress.

To avoid the spread of COVID-19 and to guarantee a safe congress for our participants, the conference organizers will strictly follow the rules stated at the time as issued by the Spanish authorities.

For the duration of the congress, any legal regulations in force at the time of the event shall apply. Prior to the congress, the relevant regulations will be published on the IRSC 2022 website in accordance with the governmental decrees. With your registration and participation in the conference, you engage to comply with the applicable regulations.
